چکیده

Developing scientific reasoning (SR) is a central goal of science-teacher education worldwide. On fine-grained level, SR competency can be subdivided into at least six skills: formulating research questions, generating hypotheses, planning experiments, observing and measuring, preparing data for analysis, drawing conclusions. In study focusing on preservice chemistry teachers, an organic lab course was redesigned using problem-solving experiments video lessons to foster skills. To evaluate the intervention, self-assessment questionnaire developed, performance-based instrument involving experimental task adapted target group undergraduates. The treatment evaluated in pre-post design with control (cook-book no lessons) alternative (problem-solving unrelated lessons). Interrater reliability excellent (? from 0.915 1.000; ICC (A1)). Data analysis shows that suitable university students. First insights pilot indicate cook-book (control group) only fosters students’ skill while both groups show increase hypotheses experiments. No pretest-posttest differences were found self-assessed skills groups. Instruments are presented discussed.

Transforming a teacher education method course through technology: effects on preservice teachers' technology competency

In this study, an instructional design model was employed for restructuring a teacher education course with technology. The model was applied in a science education method course, which was offered in two different but consecutive semesters with a total enrollment of 111 students in the fall semester and 116 students in the spring semester. Using tools, such as multimedia authoring tools in the...
